Today, publisher Phoenixx Inc. announced ‘THE FIRST ZOMBIE’, a “reverse” zombie game in which you cultivate a horde of zombies to save the world—set to launch digitally worldwide across PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch consoles in Winter of 2026.

Players will become the world’s first zombie and set out into the streets of Tokyo to save humanity by turning everyone around you into the undead—even your pet dog! Don’t feel bad. You’re doing them a favour! Being a zombie has its perks! Apparently, anyway. I’m not really big on the whole hivemind stuff, myself…

Our hero is an ordinary young man living an ordinary life—until he wakes up one day as a zombie! This is no nightmare to him; it’s a total upgrade! His new body never gets tired! Then inspiration strikes: if being a zombie is this great, why not bring everyone else in on the fun? Convinced he can save the world by turning everyone into zombies, he hits the streets of Tokyo. Let the outbreak begin!

Build Your Zombie Horde – The city is bustling with people going about their everyday lives—and you’ve got some new friends to make! Befriend them, take a chomp to turn them into zombies, and grow your horde until the entire city joins the undead!

Your Buddy Zombies Have Your Back – The humans you turn into zombies become dependable allies, and some may bring different skills to help you along the way. Recruit all kinds of freshly zombified people—and even animals—as you grow your horde and move on to the next neighborhood!We Run These Streets! – Shamble through the streets of Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabara, and other familiar Tokyo neighborhoods, each home to people with their own distinctive traits. Conquer every area and turn Tokyo into a city of the living dead!

The Boss to Buddy Pipeline – Each neighborhood has its own human boss, but don’t let them scare you! Defeat them, turn them into a buddy zombie, and bring them along to take on the next neighborhood!

This Zombie’s Got Style! – You may be undead, but your style is alive and kicking! Head to the Z-Shop and give your zombie look a killer makeover! Some items may even boost your stats!
