- Researchers uncovered a network of over 400 ‘nudify’ apps and websites on the Play Store and App Store.
- These apps masquerade as innocent tools and reveal a hidden deepfake interface after installation.
- The apps were traced back to Chinese developers and Hong Kong-based KeLing Technology Limited.
Update, November 3, 2026 (2:33 PM ET): Google has gotten back to us in response to our inquiry. Dan Jackson, a Google spokesperson, tells Android Authority:
Google Play does not allow apps that contain sexual content or allow users to “nudify” images of people, and we continually invest in proactive detection to combat bad actors who attempt to evade our review processes. The violative apps referenced in this report were already proactively removed from Play, and we have suspended hundreds of additional apps for violating our policies.
